Pour son entrée en lice, Ivan Ljubicic a fait le boulot face au Chinois Yen‐Hsun Lu. Loin d’être un match facile, il aura fallu 2h34 de jeu à Ljubicic pour obtenir sa quali­fi­ca­tion (7−6, 7–5, 6–3). Au deuxième tour, Michael Berrer ou Mardy Fish seront au programme.
