Feliciano Lopez a dû s’employer pour passer le cap du premier tour à Barcelone. L’Espagnol s’est imposé face à Mikhail Kukushkin en trois sets 6–2, 6–7(7), 6–4 en 2h27. Lopez affrontera au prochain tour son compatriote Guillermo Garcia‐Lopez.
