Le Chypriote a annoncé qu’il intégrait le staff d’Elina Svitolina pour la saison 2020 : « Je suis tellement heureux et fier d’annoncer le prochain chapitre de ma vie et je suis impatient d’entraîner une si grande athlète et une super joueuse, sixième mondiale, Elina Svitolina, aux côtés d’Andrew Bettles ! Je veux remercier Elina pour sa confiance en moi. »
L’Ukrainienne, qui a disputé ses deux premières demi‐finales dans un Grand Chelem (Wimbledon et US Open), nourrit de grandes ambitions pour 2020 car elle avait récemment déclaré vouloir « remporter son premier tournoi du Grand Chelem et devenir numéro 1 mondiale pour la première fois ».
