Après avoir déjà renoncé à Madrid, Serena Williams s’est retirée du tournoi de Rome (13 au 20 mai). Une mauvaise nouvelle concernant sa participation à Roland‐Garros (27 mai au 10 juin). Devenue maman en 2017, l’ex-numéro 1 mondiale avait repris la compétition à l’occasion de la tournée américaine d’Indian Wells et Miami.
